Overview

Harmotec is headquartered in Kofu, Yamanashi. It develops robot hands and aligner chucks for very thin wafers, hands for TAIKO wafers, and mechanisms that carry thinned wafers without touching them.

It also builds wafer loaders, flipping and transfer units and other handling mechanisms to customer requirements.

Business: Robot hands and non-contact transfer for thin wafers

Why it matters

  • Wafers thinned for power devices or stacked memory can crack under ordinary vacuum suction, so they need special end effectors.
  • TAIKO wafers keep a thick rim around a thinned centre, which changes how they must be gripped.
