Ranking

Largest Japanese Semiconductor Companies

Japan's largest semiconductor companies ranked by semiconductor revenue, not total group sales. Tokyo Electron, Kioxia and Sony's image sensor business each had more than 2 trillion yen in the latest fiscal year.

How this ranking works

Many rankings of "Japanese chip companies" use total group sales. That puts Shin-Etsu Chemical, whose sales include PVC, or Sony, whose sales include games and music, far above their actual chip businesses. This ranking uses only semiconductor revenue: companies whose sales are almost entirely semiconductors, or the semiconductor segment where a company reports one separately.

Fiscal years differ by company (most end in March, Renesas and SUMCO end in December), so the period is shown for each row. Figures are as reported by each company.
