Fabs

Semiconductor Fabs in Japan

A list of major semiconductor fabs in Japan: who runs them, where they are and what they make. It includes TSMC's JASM fab in Kumamoto, Rapidus in Hokkaido, Kioxia's NAND fabs, Micron's DRAM fab in Hiroshima and Sony's image sensor fabs.

Where the fabs are

Japan's fabs are spread across the country rather than concentrated in one hub. Kyushu has the most, including JASM and Sony's image sensor fabs; northern Japan combines Kioxia's NAND production with the new Rapidus fab. The map is a schematic of Japan's seven regions, not a geographic map.

About this list

The list covers front-end wafer fabs whose operator, location and products could be confirmed from public sources. It does not include back-end assembly and test plants, R&D lines or equipment and materials plants; those appear on the company pages and on the regions pages. Capacity figures are given only where the operator has published them.
