Overview
Shin-Etsu Polymer is a Shin-Etsu Chemical group company that molds plastics. In semiconductors it supplies FOUPs and FOSBs for 300 mm wafers, reticle pods for photomasks and transport jigs.
FOUPs carry 25 wafers between tools in a 300 mm fab, and FOSBs are used to ship wafers from wafer makers to fabs. Both must be dimensionally stable for automated handling, resist static and release little gas, because outgassing can leave films on wafer surfaces during storage.
