Overview

The PS-8 series is New Cosmos Electric's gas detection and alarm system for semiconductor fabs. It was launched on July 31, 2024. It monitors leaks of hydrides including silane (SiH₄) and the many specialty gases used in semiconductor manufacturing.

It uses what the company calls the world's first hot-wire semiconductor sensor that detects hydrides. Sensor life has been extended from about 1 year to up to 5 years, reducing replacement work and running costs.

A large LCD shows trend graphs and history for better visibility. PoE support reduces wiring and makes integration with PLCs easy. Sub-units and expansion units can be added to the main unit for customization, supporting safety monitoring in semiconductor fabs in Japan and abroad.
