Overview

JASM was established in 2021, started construction in April 2022 and held its opening ceremony in February 2024. The first fab produces 12-inch wafers on 12/16 nm FinFET and 22/28 nm processes, with a monthly capacity of 55,000 wafers. Its main products are chips for image sensors and automotive applications.

In February 2024, TSMC and the minority shareholders announced investment in a second fab at the same site, and the Japanese government announced support for the expansion.
