Overview
Fuji Electric is headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo. It entered semiconductors in 1953, and its Matsumoto factory in Nagano is its manufacturing base for power semiconductors.
In 2012 it acquired the Tsugaru factory in Aomori from Renesas, now Fuji Electric Tsugaru Semiconductor. Its products include IGBT modules for industrial drives, renewable energy and automotive use, and all-SiC modules.
Business: IGBT modules and SiC power devices
Why it matters
Fuji Electric, Mitsubishi Electric, Toshiba and ROHM make Japan one of the main sources of power semiconductors.
Power devices are made on older, mature process technology, so they rely on different equipment and know-how than leading-edge logic.
Main products
- •IGBT modules
- •All-SiC and hybrid SiC modules
- •Power MOSFETs and power ICs
