Overview

AGC was founded in 1907 and is headquartered in Marunouchi, Chiyoda, Tokyo. Its electronics business includes glass substrates and materials for semiconductors and displays.

AGC started production of EUV lithography mask blanks in 2017. It decided to double capacity at its subsidiary AGC Electronics in 2022, and in 2023 announced a further expansion of about 30% for 2025. AGC says it is the only EUV mask blank maker that handles every step from the glass material to the coating.

Business: EUV mask blanks and glass materials

Why it matters

HOYA and AGC are the main suppliers of EUV mask blanks, so both depend on EUV adoption at logic and memory makers.
AGC stresses that it makes both the glass substrate and the coating, which it says lets it control defects across the whole process.
