Overview

HOYA was founded in 1941 and is headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Its Information Technology business includes mask blanks, the coated glass substrates from which photomasks are made.

EUV mask blanks reflect light with a multilayer mirror coating, and even tiny defects in that coating can print on the wafer. HOYA says it expanded EUV mask blank production capacity at its plant in Singapore in early 2023.

Business: Mask blanks (including EUV) and photomasks

Why it matters

Every EUV layer needs a mask, and every mask starts from a blank, so EUV adoption at logic and DRAM makers drives blank demand.
Mask blanks connect to Lasertec's business: blanks are inspected for defects before patterning, which is what Lasertec's MAGICS systems do.
