Shimadzu

A Japanese maker of analytical instruments used in semiconductor materials analysis, from ICP-MS and XPS to FTIR and thermal analysis.

Overview

Shimadzu makes analytical instruments used to evaluate semiconductor materials and contamination. ICPMS-2050 measures trace metals in chemicals and ultrapure water, and KRATOS ULTRA2 (AXIS Supra+) is an imaging XPS for surface chemical state analysis.

It also makes the IRXross FTIR spectrometer for identifying organic substances and the DSC-60 Plus series differential scanning calorimeters for thermal analysis of resins and other materials.

Business: Analytical instruments

Why it matters

Trace metal analysis of chemicals and ultrapure water is routine in fabs because ppt-level metals affect yield.

Main products
