Burn-in systems

Burn-in systems operate chips at elevated temperature and voltage for an extended time so that devices with latent defects fail before shipment rather than in the field. Packaged devices are loaded on burn-in boards in a thermal chamber, and some systems burn in whole wafers.

What it does

Monitor and test burn-in systems also exercise or test the devices during burn-in, which is common for memory, where large numbers of devices are processed in parallel.
