Overview

Kokusai Electric is headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, and its main production base is in Toyama Prefecture. The company was carved out of the Hitachi group, acquired by KKR, and returned to the public market in 2023.

Batch furnaces process many wafers at once, which suits the thick and repeated film stacks used in 3D NAND and DRAM. The lineup also includes single-wafer and treatment systems.

Business: Batch deposition, diffusion and ALD equipment

Why it matters
